Why go for STAGE 3?
STAGE 3 is suitable if you want:
Disadvantages of STAGE 3:
STAGE 3 – turbocharger modification
Stage 3 turbocharger modification is the ultimate solution for anyone who wants to get the absolute maximum out of their engine. This is no longer a modification of a production unit – Stage 3 is usually a completely redesigned or custom-hybrid turbo, designed for high performance, reliability, and extreme loads.
The ideal choice for motorsport, track day projects, or hardcore tuning.
What exactly does STAGE 3 turbo mean?
With Stage 3 turbochargers, it’s no longer just a matter of modifying components – usually the entire platform is changed. Typically, this includes:
| Component | Stage 3 modification |
|---|---|
| Compressor wheel | Massively enlarged billet wheel (CNC milled), often 7+7 blades |
| Turbine wheel | High flow, often lightweight Inconel/Mar-M alloy |
| CHRA unit | New, completely redesigned – hybrid |
| Flow geometry | Modified turbo housing (compression and exhaust) |
| Exhaust flange | Enlarged outlet to reduce back pressure |
| Bearings | Reinforced or ceramic for higher temperature and rotational loads |
STAGE 3 performance potential
Stage 3 cannot do without these modifications:
- Control unit: professional ECU remap (ideally with measurement on the brake)
- Reinforced clutch kit
- Engine (internals): pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft – recommended for 400+ HP
- Intake and exhaust: complete 3" system with high-quality downpipe
- Larger FMIC - better compressed air cooling
- More powerful injectors and fuel pump
