Turbocharger reconditioning and repair

At SNAIL Turbochargers, we repair turbochargers thoroughly and meticulously. Each turbo undergoes a careful process that ensures maximum reliability and performance.

Thanks to top-quality components, a reconditioned turbo can be even better than a new one – and all at a fair price.

HOW THE REPAIR PROCESS WORKS STEP BY STEP:

1 Disassembly and initial inspection

First, we completely disassemble the turbo into its individual parts. We record its technical condition – looking for cracks, excessive wear, and other problems.

2 Diagnostics and damage inspection

We check the mechanical condition of all important parts – axles, blades, bearings, shafts, seals, and clearances. We then determine the cause of the damage, whether it is poor lubrication, overheating, or the intrusion of a foreign object.

3 Cleaning

We use aquablasting and ultrasonic cleaning to remove carbon, oil deposits, and all impurities.

4 Replacement of worn parts

  • bearings
  • sealing and retaining rings
  • rotor
  • compressor wheel
  • entire CHRA unit

We use proven, high-quality parts that give the turbo a longer service life and better performance.

5 Balancing

We balance the rotor parts (especially the shaft with the turbine) with maximum precision – usually at several hundred thousand revolutions per minute. A poorly balanced turbo = vibration, rapid wear, and risk of failure.

6 Assembly and final test

We assemble the turbo in a clean environment and test its operation on a test bench. We check for leaks, smooth operation, and final settings.

HIGH-QUALITY REPAIR THAT OFTEN SURPASSES A NEW TURBO

Thanks to the use of top-quality components and a precise procedure, our refurbishment can be better than a new turbo from the factory – with minimal impact on the price.
